Help 4 hounds rescue
About us
We are a not-for-profit organisation with one sole aim: helping dogs in their time of need. All dogs receive placement in fully vetted foster homes provided by our dedicated volunteer team.
Our care process -
Once with us, dogs receive full veterinary checks and any necessary treatment as priority. We assess behavioural needs and understand each dog's character. When ready, we place dogs for adoption with full, honest reviews of their character, needs, and any ongoing veterinary requirements.
Some dogs cannot be placed for adoption and remain in long-term foster placements, ensuring they live full, happy lives.
Our adoption process -
We do not hold waiting lists, but you can apply for pre-approval to expedite enquiries about specific dogs. All adopted dogs include 5 weeks free insurance and lifetime rescue backup - adoptive families contract to return dogs to us if needed.
We provide ongoing advice and support - contact us anytime.
Supporting struggling owners -
We work with owners needing to rehome dogs for various reasons without judgement. We prefer owners contact us when struggling rather than dogs having unmet needs. If you're worried about continuing pet care and need rehoming help, contact us.
We work day and night ensuring dogs in need find forever homes
Our adoption policy
Our comprehensive process -
Initial contact -
We receive calls about dogs needing help - surrendered (owner circumstances changed), found (strays exceeding 7-day pound limits before euthanasia), or removed (welfare concerns).
Foster placement -
We require foster homes, which are increasingly difficult to find. Our South-West network often operates at capacity. When fosterers are full, we're unfortunately forced to turn dogs away.
We desperately need fosterers. If you can help, please contact us.
Adoption preparation includes:
- Learning behaviour, obedience, socialisation, temperament, needs and habits
- Veterinary assessments for health, parasites, and neutering requirements
- Socialising with dogs and humans, addressing aggression or anxiety
- Training for improved adoption prospects
- Individual care plans for each dog's specific needs
Application process -
Contact us & we send application forms requesting personal information, circumstances and home details. More information improves matching accuracy.
We consider all factors affecting dog welfare: application elements may result in rejection solely to ensure perfect matches. Our mission is rehoming once - we must be rigorous to ensure dogs receive best lives and never feel unsafe again.
Home assessment -
Approved applications receive home visits checking adoption suitability. These friendly visits ensure appropriate matches and successful permanent placements. When satisfied, we confirm adoption proceedings and arrange fee coverage for any outstanding veterinary bills (disclosed in advance).
Post-adoption support -
We check progress after placement and celebrate successful integrations through updates and photos showing dogs safe and happy.
Then we prepare for the next rescue... ❤️
