Silk Cat Rescue is a volunteer-only registered charity (1180331) devoted to helping find new homes for unwanted and stray cats and kittens. Based in Bollington, near Macclesfield, we work in the local area doing what we can to help destitute felines. We take our name from the silk trade for which Macclesfield was renowned in times past - like many local organisations, we're proud of our area's heritage. Our approach is refreshingly straightforward: we don't have buildings or a rehoming centre to maintain, and people give their time freely, so our overheads stay minimal whilst our welfare standards match national organisations. Local veterinary practices provide brilliant support, offering professional services for the cats and kittens in our foster care network. We operate to strict guidelines which means no healthy animal is ever put to sleep - euthanasia only happens if our vets advise it's the best overall welfare option. We're always looking for new help, whether that's hands-on cat care (kitten and cat socialisation), fundraising, clerical support, or vet runs. Every bit of help makes a difference to the cats in our care. Our volunteer-led model means more donations go directly to cat care rather than running costs - which is exactly how we like it.
