I'm looking for a loving family to call my own
Astrid is looking for a house to call her own 🧡 4 years old American bulldog Astrid is an incredibly affectionate and loving dog who has sought out closeness and companionship from the very beginning of her time in foster. She forms strong bonds with her people and loves nothing more than being physically close to them, whether that is lying beside them, leaning her head against them or, given the opportunity, lying or sitting directly on them. She particularly enjoys a good bum scratch and will seek one out whenever the opportunity arises. She is also very expressive and communicative, using a combination of eye contact and vocalisations to make her wants known. If she wants something, she will often lead you towards it and then look between you and what she wants while vocalising until you understand. Astrid is particularly enthusiastic when greeting her people, with full body wiggles, huge tail wags and her distinct smile when she is happy or excited. These greetings aren’t reserved for long absences; even one of us returning after being upstairs for a short time can receive the same response. Returning home after leaving her is the only occasion when Astrid gets the zoomies, alternating between excitedly running around the living room and returning to us for kisses and affection. Within the home Astrid is exceptionally clean, well-mannered and non-destructive, and spends much of her time sleeping or relaxing close to her people. She has very little interest in toys and, despite being offered a wide variety, has only chosen to play with them on two occasions. She much prefers food-based enrichment and particularly enjoys lick mats, natural chews such as filled hooves, rabbit ears, lamb feet etc, “find it” games and snuffle boxes. She loves her food and becomes very excited at mealtimes but has excellent manners around human food and doesn’t jump up on benches or attempt to steal while people are eating. Overall, Astrid is a loving, expressive and incredibly endearing dog whose affectionate nature and personality make her a wonderful companion. She asks for very little from the people she trusts other than their company and affection, both of which she returns in abundance. Astrid needs a quiet home with slow introductions to new people as she can be fearful. She is being muzzle trained as she has shown fearful reactivity whilst at the vets. She also needs a home with older children or an adult only home. Astrid needs to be the only dog with no small furies. Astrid will also need meet and greets to enable a slow solid bond to be built, she is based in County durham.
